Family History Writing Challenge

The Armchair Genealogist has a challenge every year to write your family history story. This year, I am joining in with the story of my great grandmother. You might wonder what this has to do with California destinations. Well, going through all the photos and records to prepare for the challenge, I have found several more pictures of my family at Knott's Berry Farm. These have been added to the page I wrote on Squidoo on Knott's Berry Farm. Maybe the photos are only interesting to my family but they start in 1954 and go all the way to last year when we took another photo at the old-time photo shop. Yesterday, I found another photo that has not been posted on the page yet. It is my mother at Knott's Berry Farm in 1947. That was the year that my parents married and moved to Los Angeles. Knott's Berry Farm is a truly family tradition that continues to evolve. We just renewed our year passes and will be going next week for our child's birthday. He will be 12 and has not missed a year.

Knott's Soak City

As part of the year pass to Knott's Berry Farm, we also get entry into Soak City. There are three locations but we like the one in Palm Springs. This is a delightful place to go. There is very little traffic, the park has never been so crowded, you can't move around and it is closer to us than Buena Park. What we really like is that it is clean. The staff spends lots of time keeping it that way. As a family, we enjoy the wave pool and the lazy river. It's enough to get really wet without all the drama of the rides. For more mature visitors, it is fun.

Knott's Season Passes

Proud new owner of season passes, we went to Knott's Berry Farm on Wednesday, January 18, 2012. It was a interesting trip. There was no one there and all we had to do was to walk up and get on the rides. There were times when we didn't even see any people. That's not normal and it was unnerving. Still, since I have never seen it without crowds, there was more time to visit favorite attractions and complain about the changes.

Just added Knott's Berry Farm

We are buying the year passes for Knott's. That means we can go everyday if we want to but Mr. Wonderful is excited about the chicken dinner. This also gets us into the three water parks. The one in Palm Springs is where we will probably go since there is less traffic going to Palm Springs than there is to Buena Park.

All of this reminded me that Knott's Berry Farm is an old friend. We starting going in 1953 when we move to Los Angeles County. There is so much to write about and I'm not sure where it will go but since I just started, it should be fun.
